About Mary Ann Boyle

Mary Ann Boyle lives with her wife in a small community on the edge of the Salish Sea. In her 30-year career as a licensed mental health counselor, she was privileged to join clients in the unfolding of their individual stories and gather groups together to explore life through literature. She invited clients to read novels, to normalize their own experience and feel less alone. She pestered them to move their bodies and to get outside. And she encouraged them to do what she is doing now–Use your voice! Be the author of your own story!

"Truth is, I was born to be a writer. The first piece of paper that bore my name, my birth certificate, was fictionalized. My 38-year-old mother listed her age as 33. Unwittingly, she planted the seed for a lifetime of telling stories.

Working as a licensed mental health counselor, for over 30 years, I was privileged to listen to client’s stories. I believe in the power of story.

Use your voice! Tell your story!

As I now move from the role of counselor to that of writer, I am endeavoring to do the same."
